The trail begins with a gravel-surfaced single-track segment and transitions into a unique 2-km tide-washed section that’s ideal for “hike-a-bike” enthusiasts. This area is rich with panoramic views of the Strait of Canso on one side and tranquil Long Pond on the other.
While the first 4.5 km can be rough for cyclists, walkers are rewarded with incredible sights including ocean-going vessels navigating the Canso Canal Locks. Further along, you’ll encounter gravel double tracks, recycled asphalt paths, and interpretive signage sharing the vibrant history of local communities.
